Paddy Johnson at Art Fag City has scooped me and blogged about the WEST PRIZE before I got a chance to. Thanks Paddy. Tell your artist friends to apply. It is free. I plan on sending as many people as I can to check out work on the "open to the public" site long before the winner is announced.
The picture above shows $125,000 in one-dollar-bills that we borrowed for our booth at the NEXT fair in Chicago last weekend to launch the prize and get the word out. Thanks to all of those generous souls who offered to "hang on to" the money for us until the winners are announced in October.
(Artwork installed behind the tower of cash is 'Michael Jordan, Save the World' by Norm Paris. The artists pictured stacking the cash are Drew Leshko and John Garrett Slaby.)
Hi Paige
I am curious if there is a way to update the images in a submission, or add more images later. I know if I submit now I'll really want to add new work closer to the deadline, and I'm sure others feel the same.
Thanks for doing this!

Rene - we are working on a way to allow artists to log in and resubmit work. Hang tight and i'll get back to you on that one. We are also trying to allow video artists to enter the prize.
There is a lot of discussion on the prize over at Edward Winkleman's blog. http://edwardwinkleman.blogspot.com/2008/05/west-prize.html

Hi Paige! I'm here from Ed Winkleman. I just wanted to let you know that there seemed to be a bug in the system when I uploaded, which resulted in some images not appearing, and some appearing as duplicate blank captions. I uploaded eight. Once you find a way to re-log in I'm happy to fix them, if they're not fixed already.
Thanks for your generosity and enthusiasm!

If you get chance I would appreciate feedback on my work. You can view some here: www.listen04.co.uk or alternatively drop me a line and I will email some stuff over. Kind regards,
Rich
