A great way to see tomorrow's art stars is to attend MFA thesis exhibits or open studios. Every art school has one and this is the time of year for them. Check your local art schools for dates and times. One to check out:
Columbia University, School of the Arts, 2004 MFA Thesis Exhibition, curated by Ali Subotnick
May 2 - May 23
Here is a write up on the show from Flavorpill:
LFL Gallery star Dana Schutz famously sold out an entire exhibition shortly after earning her Columbia MFA. No surprise, though: with a diverse roster of permanent faculty including interdisciplinary diva Coco Fusco, silhouette satirist Kara Walker, and interactive activist Rirkrit Tiravanija, the university consistently produces some of New York's most mature new artists. Other recent graduates, such as Derrick Adams and Kevin Zucker, reflect the program's emphasis on innovative critical and historical awareness, while current students Molly Smith and Justin Lowe, among others, make craft and community their focus. Student shows always generate a special raw buzz, and we anticipate nothing short of frisson from this year's thesis production. (AM)
Opening reception: Sunday, May 2, 2-6pm
I'll second that. I just picked up an artist to show this fall who just received an MFA from Cornell. Amazing stuff. LA has been having their MFA shows too...recently CalArts and Art Center. Otis is having their's next week. Good stuff...just weed through the poopy ones first!

Hi.. I have some friends that do modern art, paintings and different other techniques... I am not an expert in this field.. so maybe someone here could help. I made some fast online pages with some of their work. Please take a look and maybe send me an email with your opinions.
