Read These Blogs

I am a new blogger. I am still learning. A lot. I want to acknowledge two bloggers who have welcomed me with open arms to the art blogging community and have taught me everything I know thus far. Thanking them and encouraging others to check out their blogs is way overdue.

Caryn Coleman of art.blogging.la
and
Tyler Green of MAN

I read these two blogs every day. You should be reading them daily, too. Why? Because they know their stuff. And, because they've been sharing their thoughts and opinions for years so you've got a lot of catching up to do. Collectors, gallerists, museum curators and administrators, and anyone else connected to or interested in the art world should read their blogs daily. It's just that simple.

I also have to acknowledge the woman who convinced me - finally - to create a blog. Thank you Elise!

Why Blog?

I created this weblog to share my knowledge of contemporary art. I have found in meeting people both professionally and personally that most of us are quite intimidated when it comes to buying art. Historically the art market has succeeded by remaining aloof, elitist, and closed to the masses. Times have changed and to survive in the current economy most galleries, dealers, museums and auction houses are now doing more to open their doors to a new audience. 'Client Experience', a concept widely accepted by most retail and service industries today, is slowly becoming an important tool in growing the art industry. This concept five years ago would have been shunned by most as the beginning of the end of the contemporary art market. This blog represents that change. Let's talk, let's share, let's ask the difficult questions about art and collecting, and let's start buying oringinal art. I believe that no home should be without an original work of art. I believe that original art adds value to any environment. I hope that this blog will assist those interested in collecting contemporary art to take that leap and join me in my addiction.
